Counselling
The Year Tutors are usually the initiators of one-to-one assistance. If it is subject related, arrangements can be made for extra tuition, particularly in languages, mathematics or science. For social or pastoral problems, Year Tutors will refer students to the Student Counsellor, Ms K. Sjogren, who deals with social and emotional needs for the students.

Confidants
It is possible that students and staff may at times require a consultation with a confidant. Two teachers at the school have been trained as confidants.

The school confidants help make the school environment safe and free from bullying and physical and sexual intimidation. Under the Dutch law, every school is obliged to have one or more confidants. Anyone involved with the school community: students, teachers, parents, concierges, librarians etc. - can approach them for consultation. Of course they will first try to resolve the problem with the person(s) concerned. If this does not work out, further steps and measures would be taken.
It goes without saying that consultations will be treated as confidential as possible. Some things or situations need to be passed on to more specialised people. In that case they will always consult with the person(s) who came for help. If any member of the school community needs to see them, they are available to offer this person their help.
