  ISSE School Handbook 2009/2010

The ISSE is situated in the north of Eindhoven and provides a full secondary school education in English for children from families right across the Dutch province of North Brabant and further away. Our students travel from other cities in North Brabant, such as Breda, Tilburg and den Bosch, and from as far away as Venlo, Belgium and even Germany. The school is on a direct bus route from the city's central railway station, and close to major motorway connections.

Our school is for:

  • boys and girls aged 11-19 years who wish to be educated in English
  • children from families with an international background, or from local families with a strong interest in an international education
  • students of all abilities who are able to benefit from our programmes

Our motto is UNITY IN DIVERSITY and we welcome students of all backgrounds. Our students come from over 40 different nationalities. As well as Dutch passport holders our largest nationality groups include British, North American, Taiwanese, Korean, Indian and Japanese students. International understanding, intercultural awareness, tolerance and respect are among our most important values.

Our teachers represent some 12 nationalities, including the Netherlands, the UK, Ireland, Canada, the USA, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. All are well-qualified specialists, with a big heart for our students.

We aim to

  • help students to feel welcome and settle easily
  • challenge and support students from all backgrounds to achieve personal excellence in a student-centred programme
  • welcome and involve parents as partners in the education process

  • provide a wide range of extracurricular activities
